Update

So...when we went to the doctor's appointment on Friday, they did an ultrasound. In the ultrasound, the doctor said there was something strange and she went to talk to someone about it. When she came back, I was nervous to hear what she had to say.

She said the baby's femur and humerus bones are not growing proportionally, and this is the first ultrasound they've noticed it. She said it could be a growth spurt thing that the baby will catch up in utero or after she's born. She said she may have a birth defect. She said, worst case scenario, she may have down syndrome.

I know the doctor didn't tell us anything for sure. But it sure did affect me. I couldn't hold back the tears. Just the thought that our baby might not be perfect scared me.

I am grateful to have a husband who has great faith and can tell me knowingly, "Everything's going to be fine". I am grateful to have a mom who said, "You'll love your baby no matter what, and you can do hard things." I am grateful to have a best friend who said, "This baby was meant to be yours, no matter what. You can do this. Your baby will be fine."

I don't know the outcome. I do know we need to see a specialist, she said they will call me.

We went to the temple and Josh gave me a blessing. I can say that now I have nothing to fear, only faith. Everything will be fine.

  1. Amy, if anybody can handle a trial like that, it's you! I love the thinking about how Heavenly Father has trusted us to raise his children, and they were meant to be ours. Your baby girl will be your baby girl no matter what happens to her and you will love her just the same! You and Josh will be great parents!!! Please let us know if you need anything at all!
