As I mentioned in a previous post, Josh and I have really tried to make a change in our eating and activity levels. Both of us. We have different weight loss/strength training goals, but we both felt we needed a change for us personally, and for our family.
I knew I would feel better, we would have more energy and our clothes would fit us better.
But I didn't expect for it to improve our marriage dramatically!
Now, we didn't have a horrible marriage to begin with. It was fine. But who wants things to be "fine"? We've had our share of challenges in our almost-4-years-of-matrimony, but I feel like things are better than ever. Here's why:
1) We are supporting each other in a whole new way.
For example, last night, I was tired and I wanted to rest on the couch and read a book. But Josh said, "Hey, are you gonna go the gym?" I knew that I should but I REALLY didn't feel like it and so I kind of pretended like I didn't hear him (classic, I know.) He asked me again and I said, "Yeah, I was gonna go, but I think I'm just gonna stay home." He said to me these very inspiring words, "If you go to that insanity class at the gym, I'll make your brownies. Not paleo brownies, Amy. REAL brownies." Josh said he couldn't believe how fast I got up. He said he didn't think it would work. We haven't eaten white flour in a LONG time yet I am still its slave. But I did go to that class, he did make me brownies, and I felt so supported and encouraged.
2) We have a common interest and hobby.
We have both been obsessed with avocados lately. We put them on EVERYTHING. Spaghetti, eggs, salads, etc. It is so fun that no matter who's cooking, I see avocados on the table as a side to add to our meal. We also eat salads with almost every meal, instead of bread or pasta! Also, we look at paleo blogs together, we make meals together, we grocery shop together, we read paleo health articles together, we encourage each other to try new and "exotic" health foods (like barley, go figure!)
3) We find each other MORE physically attractive.
Don't worry, this blog is G-rated, especially because next month, I will be printing my blog out for this year and making it into a book for our family :). But since our clothes fit better, we look better! We also don't feel or look bloated. Our faces have thinned out. We look at each other in a new way! I think he is the most handsome being I have ever seen, even more than ever!
Those are just 3 reasons, there are many more. Here's to health!
