Well, Josh and I celebrated our 4th anniversary last week! Well, our 4th anniversary was December 29, 2009 but it was a crazy time and we were in different states so we didn't get to celebrate it until last week. We went to Heber and went swimming in the hot springs. It was sooo fun!!!!!! Then, we ate some Chinese food. My favorite. Happy 4th anniversary, Josh!
So, on another note.
I love being a mom. I really do. I love watching Nolan toddle around with his squishy diaper and his arms out in front of him like a wobbly T-rex. It brings me so much joy to read books to him. We spent $35 on new books last night, some of them activity books. It is so fun to watch him point to his own baby picture on the wall and say, “baby” (unbeknownst to him he is STILL kind of a baby :)). I love seeing him screech with delight at the park or any time I let him walk in public! I love that he is so patient with sitting in the stroller so I can run around the track at the Rec Center. He is a happy, energetic boy. We love his giggles and smiles so much.
He screams if he signs please for my phone and I say, No thank you. I try distracting him with a new toy. It works temporarily. He screams when I won’t let him get on the slide at the Rec Center because a big kid is coming down it that very moment and is about to hit him in the face. He screams if I don’t let him push the stroller into other kids at the Rec Center (he doesn’t see that they are there, but I do!). He screams when we have to leave.
Seriously. I am praying so hard for patience and some inspiration!
Oh--also he won’t eat. Like he’s eaten 5 raisins, 2 whole graham crackers, lots of juice, a cookie and 2 pieces of an orange for the past 2 days. His poop is not even solid (I know, I know, TMI).. Gosh, I can’t force him to eat fiber-rich foods. He won’t touch avocadoes and he used to love toast, but will now only eat 2 bites. Maybe he’s just so active, he’s not eating as much. I don’t know. But seriously, Nolan. Eat.
Here he is, in all of his cuteness. I didn't want to share a picture of his screaming, just his smiling :). BTW, his hair is getting really long and I can put the top into a ponytail (like in this picture, though it's hard to see.)

Yay for you! and here's to hoping its a phase he'll quickly grow out of! Maybe ignoring?… and i hear the no eating around the age of 1 is pretty common… but who knows its all guess work on a day to day basis over here! Good Luck and I hope he stops soon for your sanity!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd try the ignore thing too! I know he's still young and he might not get it, but after awhile he will. I always tell Samantha "When you're ready to talk nicely, I'd love to talk to you." That's harder in public, especially when you're trying to save his life from the big kid coming down the slide! :-) And, the ignoring thing usually only works if he's trying to get something from you. It might just be that he tried screaming once, liked what it sounded like and thinks it's cool. Obviously, I don't know your kid as well as you do, but those are some thoughts! You're a good mama, Ames!
ReplyDeleteOh, isn't the coming into individuality fun? I think most things are phases that have us all praying for patience! Not eating makes moms crazy! One thing that has given me peace of mind is reading somewhere that it only matters what kids eat in a week, and not in a day, and as long as they have at least two tablespoons of decent nutrition on their low days they will continue to thrive. You can do it!
