Surgery--Stage 2!

Well, Nolan had his second surgery on Thursday. Basically, they had to retube his urethra so it would go through his penis, as close to the tip as they can get. Then, they had to use the foreskin to patch it up and make it look normal. (Sorry to speak so frankly, haha. I don't care to use euphemisms or sugercoat it. What's wrong with just telling it how it is?! :))

We got up at 5:30 am, drove to Riverton Hospital.

We checked in at 6:30 am, they got us almost ready to go at 7 am and then...

Nolan drank from his water bottle and snuck a cheerio. He is not supposed to have any food or drink 3 hours prior to the surgery! It was my fault about the drink. I didn't realize he couldn't have any drinks before the surgery!

So, they had to delay the surgery until 10 am.

But they got busy and we didn't actually get in until 11 am!

So we waited in the waiting room for 4 hours.

Then, we talked to the anesthesiologist and then he took him away. Nolan didn't cry. He just kept saying "hat" and pointing to the blue scrub hat he was wearing. He got one for Nolan. So cute!

Erin, Josh's sister, sat with me in the waiting room for almost 5 hours after that. We did escape for lunch and meet up with some of her friends. We mostly watched Netflix...

Then, I got to see him. He had a hard time breathing, his eyes wouldn't open much and his cry was weak and sad. It was heartbreaking.

Finally, he started drinking and eating again, and saying words. 10 seconds out of the surgery and he said, "Buzz? Buzz!" (He is obsessed with Toy Story, specially Buzz Lightyear.)

Finally, after 2 more hours, his breathing was stable and we took him home.

He was pretty sad for the rest of the day.

Then, he cuddled with Dad. Josh ommented that it was kind of nice for Nolan to be calm and cuddly as opposed to normal--active and restless. ;)

The next day, he got up and was ok. Really hated bathtime though because until the stint is out in about 2 weeks, he is not supposed to submerge. So I just get in the bathtub, hold him and wipe him down with washcloths and pour water on him. He hates it. He cried the whole time. :(

He is recovering okay. Not as quickly as last time. He still needs the medicine. He is getting better though.

We love our Nolan! He is so brave. :)
