Nolan had his 3rd surgery last Friday. He was born with severe hypospadius, which means the opening of the urethra is on the underside of the penis, instead of at the tip. The 2nd surgery was supposed to fix it but it didn't heal correctly. So this was their second try at it. Our surgeon feels like this one went really well, no complications. So we are hoping it is the last one, but we will see!
Here are some before and after pictures (not of his penis, don't worry!)
We were really surprised that he didn't ask for food that whole morning. Before the surgery, he wasn't allowed to eat for 12 hours before. But he woke up in a good mood (mostly) and played in the waiting room!
He freaked out when the doctor wanted to check his blood pressure, wipe him down with these special pre-surgery cloths, and put him in these clothes. I felt so awful. But then, he got to play again and kind of forgot about it.
Isn't this the saddest picture you've ever seen? He had a hard time coming out of the anesthesia.
At least we got to have lots of cuddles, poor baby.
P.S. I am kind of terrible at recording my life. I forgot to write that Melody and Don (Josh's parents) came to visit last weekend! It was so fun. Here is a cute picture of Melody and Nolan, trying on my glasses.
