Bennett's Blessing

It was hard to plan Bennett's baby blessing, because he was in the hospital a lot longer than anticipated, and then we moved, wanted to be in our own place, and be settled before we did it. So finally, at 3.5 months old, we did his blessing!

We did it in our home. Our doctor suggested we don't go to church for a while, because it is a big germfest and being sick causes a lot more problems for babies like Bennett than for your average infant. So, the bishopric gave us permission to do it at home.

Nolan shares Don's middle name, Charles. That is his special connection to Don. We wanted Bennett to have a special connection to Don too. So we asked Don to do the blessing. He was nervous because the cancer affects his memory and ability to process while he speaks. But he did a beautiful job, and tears welled in my eyes. It was a beautiful moment.

The highlights from the blessing were that Don blessed him to have faith and a testimony of Jesus Christ. He blessed him to be friends and companions to Nolan. He blessed him to reach out to others who are on the outside. He blessed him to serve a mission, get an education and get married. He said he was lucky to be in this family and he was so loved.

My sisters were on facetime, so they got to see the blessing. Wish they were in person but it was close enough!

Ok, now, for pictures!

Bennett getting ready. We had to wake him up and we thought he would be super fussy but he wasn't!

Don performed the blessing, it was beautiful!

One of the only pictures we have of the four of us! Don't mind Nolan's diaper sticking out, haha.

So cute. You can see his g-tube cover poking out!

For the blessing. On the left, our bishopric member came to join us and wore a mask because his kids were sick at home.

Everyone in the circle to give the blessing. My dad, cousin Pete, great grandpa Conrad Futch, Don, Josh, Uncle Bill

Such a cute picture, even though Bennett is NOT happy....

Great grandma Dianne holding Bennett. He slept in her arms. She has the touch! Must be because she is a retired nurse. ;)

Aunt Kathy made this dessert. Yummmm...

My dad, and Erin.

Nolan loved having the Park boys over. He had such a blast!

Josh and Uncle Kevin.

  1. I'm SO SO happy that Don was able to bless Bennett and make that connection that Bennett will always have. What a beautiful sentiment!
