Being a Teacher Is Not Easy

It was one of those days that I came home and reevaluated how I am as a teacher.

I realized sometimes I expect too much:

  • Every student to do their homework almost every day.
  • Students paying attention at all times
  • Students not talking to others unless they're on task.
I know I'm a perfectionist and a control freak. I am working on these not-so-awesome traits.
I feel like I'm boring and sometimes harsh and I don't show enough love.

I have to pray everyday for my students to feel the love I have for them, and that I truly want them to succeed.

I read an article that students like teachers with high expectations as long as its coupled with praise and they can tell their teacher likes them.

I am going to work on it, I am. I will figure this teaching thing out if it's the last thing I do!!!!!!!!

  1. It is funny to me how whatever seems to be a problem in your class is also a problem in MY class! Friday they were SOOOOO chatty! And Thursday 3 students forgot their homework packets, and I had to rearrange desks because three students told me their table mates were too distracting...all the same woes you mentioned. Yes, these are frustrating, but you are right, you still love them and keep trying to make them into the best people they can be because you love them! Hang in there! Mom
