These pictures were taken at our ward's trunk-or-treat a week ago. Little did we know this is the only time we would be wearing this getup as a family!
On Halloween day, I dropped Nolan off at the babysitter's and went to work dressed as a pirate. It was a great day in the computer lab. When the kids walked in, I turned the main light off, played scary music and had flashing orange and black lights. They loved it. Then we made Halloween madlibs, uploaded them to gmail and shared them with each other. They had a blast!
I came home, and was excited to have a relaxing afternoon then head off to one maybe two Halloween parties showing off our babe for his first Halloween.
When I pick him up, I find out he's been crying all day, won't sleep, and his eyes are red. She said she thinks he was sick. I fed him, tried putting him down to sleep and he was hysterical. He was falling asleep while he cried. We called the doctor, she recommended Benadryl. His eyes were glazed over and he looked miserable--stuffy nose, etc. Ok, I cried. I just held him and he and I both cried for like 15 minutes while Josh ran out and got some medicine.
Finally, we gave him medicine, Josh put him down and he slept for 4 hours. Well, so much for our parties and taking him out. We were pretty bummed and sad for him that he wasn't feeling well. After an hour of convincing, I got Josh to watch Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo" with me. It turned out to be a nice, quiet night and Nolan got the rest he needed. We got a few trick-or-treaters.
