So, Bennett woke up on Monday and was "clicking" at the end of each breath. I've learned that is a sign of respiratory distress. So, we did inhalers, and chest physical therapy (CPT) and turned up his oxygen, as we've been taught. But it didn't get better. So we called the pediatrician, and she said a phrase I am getting very tired of hearing, "You should probably take him to the ER." Oh, I get so much anxiety at that phrase!
So, we called my parents, who I forgot were on their way to Sedona for a getaway, and they turned around, and took Nolan for the next 2 days! I know, I have angel parents.
Josh, Bennett and I headed to the hospital. They did an x ray and said his pneumonia was deeper in right lung. They wanted him to stay 1-2 nights in the hospital to get IV antibiotics. He also got breathing treatments every 3 hours and other steroids to help open up Bennett's lungs.
The pulmonologist, who we'd never met, came by, asked us about Bennett, didn't say much otherwise. But on the last day we were there, the staff told us HE had told them, that he thought it was an asthma flareup, not actelasis and pneumonia. But it seems the other doctors disagreed. I guess x-rays can be hard to read. Because the black stuff on x-rays everyone can agree on is air, but the "white" stuff, can be so many things!
Anyway, it was a pretty rough stay. Bennett was sooo fussy. He pretty much had to be held and rocked the whole time. Man.
I am really glad Josh was there with me! We spent our anniversary at the hospital. My mom packed us a picnic lunch, candles and sushi. It was actually really fun!
We were soooo glad to come home on Wednesday afternoon.
We are so grateful to my parents, a friend Sarah who brought us a care bag, and Melody who watched Nolan too.
God knew what he was doing to have us move here. We are so lucky to have support and help.
